And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…

Hebrews 10:24

We are passionate about helping local churches engage with their communities. We help church leaders and congregations create and carry out customized plans for meeting their neighbors, learning their needs, and engaging in ways that are helpful, rather than hurtful, and point others to Jesus.

Our seminars, programs, and events help churches and individuals learn skills they need to reach their communities with the hope of Christ and make connections between believers, churches, and ministries. We are creating a network of people passionate about reaching the Roanoke Valley with the Gospel.  Our staff continues to grow in our knowledge of outreach and community development in order to help you facilitate growth and find the right resources for your church.

What We Offer

Fall/winter 2020-2021 saw us doing prayer walks in neighborhoods around Roanoke with pastors, ministry leaders, and community members to get a vision for the needs and ways to serve each neighborhood.

We offer consultations with church and ministry leaders for outreach ideas, connections with other groups, and a greater vision of God’s work in the Roanoke Valley.

Previous consultations have included:

  • Helping a church make a new plan for updating their Family Life Center
  • Connecting an established church with a church plant for partnerships
  • Talking with a pastor about renting an apartment at his church to refugees
  • Meeting with a children’s director to plan for follow-up with the neighborhood children and families who attended Vacation Bible School
  • Partnering with a missions director to offer a seminar to help her church better understand how to help those in need

Our data and resource lists help churches understand the demographics of their communities and the opportunities around them. We often bring personalized neighborhood data fact sheets to our consultation meetings to help church leaders better understand their neighborhoods.

Helping Without Hurting Seminar at Parkway Church on the Mountain

We seek to equip pastors, leaders, and lay leaders in a variety of ways to better reach their neighbors with the love of Christ

Current offerings include:

  • Helping Without Hurting helps pastors, leaders, and church members think about poverty through the lens of Scripture, moving from good intentions to intentional relationships.
  • Equipping Allies provides training for allies for Jobs for Life and Faith & Finances classes as well as those wishing to be advocates for those in need.
  • Volunteer English Teacher Training teaches everything you need to know to offer an English teaching ministry at your church.

We help churches plan for a variety of programs including Faith & Finances, Jobs for Life, and English classes. We can also draw upon our network to connect you with others who have held similar programs, or even plan a brand-new idea from the ground up!

If you want to start a new program, we’d love to help you make a plan.

Students and allies take part in a role play in a Faith & Finances class.

Our conferences are designed to equip churches with tools and knowledge for ministry.
